When the staff at Valley Animal Center (VAC) first met Jodi, a tiny Chihuahua mix puppy, they were filled with hope. He had boundless energy, a wagging tail, and a heart full of love. With his adorable face and playful nature, they were certain he would find a loving home in no time.
Their hopes seemed to come true when a family applied to adopt Jodi. The staff happily waved goodbye as he trotted off to start his new life. But their joy was short-lived.

First Return: “Too Hyper”
Just a few weeks later, Jodi was back at the shelter. His family had returned him, saying he was too hyperactive.
The staff was heartbroken. How could anyone give up on such a sweet pup? But they welcomed Jodi back with open arms, believing the right family was still out there. They posted another adoption ad, hoping someone would give him the love and patience he deserved.

Second Chance, Second Heartbreak
Soon, another family stepped forward. They seemed eager to bring Jodi home, and once again, the staff waved goodbye, hoping this time would be different.
But a few weeks later, Jodi was returned. This time, his new family claimed he didn’t do well with children.
Jodi was confused. He just wanted love. But it seemed like no one wanted him back.

A Puppy Without a Home
Despite his heartbreak, Jodi kept waiting. The shelter staff reassured him, telling him his perfect family was out there somewhere.
“It’s not his fault!” VAC wrote on Facebook. “Jodi is a sweet boy who loves to run and play. He just needs a little training and a lot of love.”
His third chance soon arrived, and once again, Jodi went home with a new family. But fate was cruel. His owners had to move and couldn’t take him. And so, for the third time, Jodi found himself back at the shelter.

Fourth Adoption, Fourth Disappointment
The VAC staff adored Jodi, but they knew he deserved a stable home. They kept searching, and soon, another couple arrived, ready to give him a fresh start.
Once again, Jodi left with his new family. The shelter workers hoped this was the last goodbye.
But it wasn’t.
A few weeks later, Jodi was returned once more. His new family had changed their minds.
Fifth Time’s the Charm… or Not
At the end of last year, another family adopted Jodi. They cradled him in their arms as they left the shelter, and the staff dared to hope this time would be different.
But then, the worst news came. Jodi was back. Again.
Five times he had been adopted. Five times he had been returned.
Still Waiting for Love
“Jodi’s journey has been tough,” VAC wrote on Facebook. “‘Too active.’ ‘Didn’t do well with kids.’ ‘Owners moved.’ ‘Owners had no time.’ And then they moved again.”
Through it all, Jodi has remained hopeful. He still wags his tail. He still looks up at every visitor, wondering if they will be the ones to love him forever.
The VAC staff refuses to give up. They know Jodi’s perfect family is out there—someone who will cherish him, understand him, and never let him go.
Until then, Jodi waits.
