One day, the staff at Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) received a heartbreaking picture. A dog lay helpless on a pile of lumber, injured and alone. Only four words came with the image:

“Dog shot needs help.”
Without hesitation, Cassady, a dedicated rescuer at SRSL, immediately responded.
“Bring me that baby,” she said without a second thought.
Rescue in Action
The Good Samaritan who found the injured pup waited patiently until the rescue team arrived. The dog, though scared and in pain, gazed at her kind-hearted rescuer with silent hope.
When the team arrived, they gently lifted the trembling dog off the wooden heap. Carefully, they placed her in their car, reassuring her that she was safe now.

A Race Against Time
They could see she was hurt. But how badly? That was a question only their veterinary team could answer.
They rushed her to SRSL’s veterinary hospital, hoping for the best. The team feared the worst, but they refused to give up on her.

A Miracle in the Making
At the hospital, the sweet girl—later named Propeller—was examined with care. The vets quickly assessed her wounds and found something incredible.
A bullet fragment was lodged in her leg. But by some miracle, it had missed her knee joint, vital organs, and spine. What could have been a devastating injury turned out to be treatable. Relief washed over the team.
“She has a guardian angel,” they said.
The Road to Recovery
Propeller underwent emergency surgery to remove the shrapnel. The procedure went smoothly, and soon, she was resting comfortably.

At first, she was shaken and confused. But as the days passed, she began to feel the love around her. The staff at SRSL showered her with affection, and for the first time in a long while, she felt safe.
Slowly, her true personality emerged. She wasn’t just a survivor—she was a bundle of love.
A Bright Future Ahead
“She’s about 2 years old and a total love bug,” SRSL shared.
A month after her rescue, Propeller was finally herself again. She could walk. She could run. And best of all, she could play. At the shelter, she made new friends and enjoyed every moment of her second chance at life.
But as much as she loved SRSL, she longed for a forever home.
Waiting for Her Happy Ending
Now, the team at SRSL dreams of finding Propeller the perfect home. A place with soft beds, warm sunlight, and a family who will love her endlessly.
They know she deserves the best.
“THIS dog here is the epitome of love,” they wrote. “She is kind, she is gracious, and so perfect.”
Until she finds her family, Propeller will keep spreading love to everyone she meets. And when that day comes, she will finally have the home she has always deserved.
