Evelyn Flores never imagined that a simple phone call would change her life forever. Two years ago, her boyfriend found something unusual near his workplace in Mexico. A black-and-white dog sat alone on the street, her sad eyes scanning every passing car and stranger.

So, she scooped up the abandoned pup and brought her home. She named her Dulce, meaning “sweet” in Spanish—because despite everything, she remained gentle and hopeful.
From Foster to Forever
At first, Flores planned to find Dulce a new home. But as the days passed, something unexpected happened. Dulce fit in perfectly. She followed Flores everywhere, curled up beside her at night, and wagged her tail whenever she was near.
A bond had formed. Strong and unbreakable.
“I told myself I wouldn’t keep her,” Flores admitted. “But every time I looked at her, I knew I couldn’t let her go.”
And so, Dulce became family.
A Life Transformed
Two years later, Dulce is unrecognizable from the fragile, abandoned dog Flores found. Her ribs no longer show. Her eyes no longer carry sadness. She runs, plays, and loves with her whole heart.
“She came to us so thin and lost,” Flores said. “Now, she’s happy, healthy, and so full of life.”
The Power of Love
For Dulce, this was her second chance. A life once filled with loss and loneliness was now overflowing with love.
And for Flores, bringing Dulce home was one of the best decisions she ever made.
“We try to give her all the love she missed,” she said. “But the truth is, she’s the one who has brought joy into our lives.”
Because sometimes, when you save a dog, they save you right back.
