Last weekend, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a dog named Baby Girl sat quietly on the grass. She was tied to a fire hydrant with her leash. She looked like she was waiting for her person to come back. Many people may have just walked by. But one kind-hearted woman didn’t.
A Kind Stranger Stops to Help
Kylie Rose Engelhardt noticed Baby Girl sitting there all alone. It was cold outside. Kylie thought the dog’s owner might be coming back soon. So she sat down beside Baby Girl to wait.
“I stayed with her for an hour, keeping her warm,” Kylie wrote on Facebook. “But no one ever came back.”
Next to Baby Girl was a backpack. Inside it were all her favorite things — food, treats, and toys. There was also a note. A heartbreaking note.
Left Behind, But Not Forgotten

They noticed the care in every little detail:

- The way she was tied safely so she wouldn’t run into the street.
- The choice of location, where someone would find her quickly.
- The fact that she looked clean, healthy, and loved.
- And the note, asking someone to help her.
No Judgment, Only Love
“We’re not here to judge you,” the shelter continued. “We see your love in every choice you made for Baby Girl. We know this was not easy. And we are here to help.”
Many people don’t realize how hard it can be to give up a pet. Sometimes life brings medical problems, money struggles, or other challenges. But letting go with love is still an act of kindness.
A Bright Future Ahead
Baby Girl has finished her “stray hold” — a short wait to make sure no one claims her. She’ll soon be ready for adoption. Until then, she’s enjoying hugs, playtime, and lots of attention from the shelter staff.
“Rest assured,” the shelter wrote, “she is safe, happy, and on track to find her next loving family very soon.”
