They knew this sweet dog deserved a second chance at life and set out to help her find a loving home.
A Long Wait at the Shelter
When Samantha first arrived at the shelter, she was given much-needed medical care, along with food, water, and a clean place to sleep. The volunteers worked hard to show her love and comfort, and they hoped that someone would see how special she was. They put her up for adoption, believing she would find a home quickly.
But time passed, and months turned into a whole year. Samantha’s sadness deepened. Her hopeful expression faded as she sat in her kennel day after day, watching the other dogs leave for their new homes. Unfortunately, despite her gentle nature and sweetheart, no one came for her. The shelter was full, and they soon realized Samantha was running out of time.
A Lifeline Appears
Then, a ray of hope shone through. Humans and Animals United (HAU), a rescue group known for stepping in when no one else can, saw Samantha’s heartbreaking photos. They couldn’t ignore her plight. Rosa Fond, the founder of HAU, knew that they had to help.
“We just couldn’t turn our backs on her,” Fond said. “Seeing those photos of her alone in the shelter broke our hearts. We had to bring her to safety, no matter what.”

When Samantha was picked up from the shelter, she was still nervous and unsure. During the car ride to her temporary foster home, she was visibly anxious and unsure of what was happening. Now in her foster home, Samantha has fully embraced her new life. Her foster family describes her as a gentle and affectionate dog who loves toys, her comfy bed, and, most of all, being around people. She loves to snuggle and will happily lie beside you, content to be petted and loved on. She’s always ready for some quality bonding time.
“She connects with people,” said Rosa Fond. “It’s like she understands everything you say to her. She’s so loving and gentle with everyone.”
Samantha’s sweet and adaptable nature means she is great with other animals as well. She gets along well with both cats and dogs, making her the perfect addition to any family.

Although Samantha has not yet found her forever home, she is surrounded by love and care in her foster family. She is learning what it means to be part of a family and enjoys every moment of attention she gets.
