The Story of Eliza: A Playful Pup Longing for Love
Eliza is a young, lively dog with a heart full of love. A few weeks ago, she found herself at the City of San Bernardino Animal Services shelter. While the shelter keeps her safe and cared for, it’s not what she truly wants. Eliza dreams of running free in a yard, snuggling on a soft couch, and having someone to call her own.
In her small kennel, Eliza doesn’t let the walls contain her spirit. She has a way of making sure everyone knows just how much love she has to give.
A Cry for Love
Alice Chow, a kind-hearted animal photographer, visits the shelter often. When she saw Eliza for the first time, she couldn’t look away. Eliza wagged her tail so hard it seemed like it might fall off. She whined softly, her eyes begging for attention.
“Eliza was impossible to ignore,” Alice said. “She stuck her nose through the bent bars of her kennel just to be closer to me. She wanted love so badly, and it broke my heart.”
Alice tried to take pictures, but Eliza couldn’t stay still. She wiggled and moved, desperate to connect with the person on the other side of the bars.
A Heart Full of Joy
Even in her small space, Eliza’s personality shines like the sun. She plays with her toys, tosses them in the air, and brings them to the front of her kennel as if to say, “Let’s play together!”
Her energy feels like that of a puppy, full of hope and excitement. But her longing for companionship is just as strong. Every time someone walks by, her tail wags furiously, and her eyes light up.
Eliza isn’t giving up. She’s determined to find the person who will see her, love her, and take her home.
Spreading the Word
Alice couldn’t keep Eliza’s story to herself. She shared the photos with her friend Lois Chisholm, who posted them on Facebook. Lois wrote about Eliza’s playful spirit and her longing for a family.
The post quickly gained attention. People from all over shared it, hoping someone would see Eliza and give her the life she deserves.
“She’s so full of life,” Lois wrote. “She just needs someone to see her and take a chance on her.”
Waiting for a Miracle
Back at the shelter, Eliza waits. Her tail wags every time someone comes close, her eyes filled with hope. The staff and volunteers do their best to make her feel loved, but it’s not the same as a forever home.
Eliza’s story is spreading far and wide. More people are seeing her photos and learning about her. Everyone at the shelter is hopeful that soon, someone will walk through the doors and say, “I’m here for Eliza.”
